Laatste verhaal. Last story.

We're flying back to Kodiak en are picked up by Andy and Pretina. On the way to the boat to go to their house, we saw a Mamma Grizzly and three little cubs on the road. That were the last bears we saw this summer. In total we have seen fifty bears and that is enough. It is great to be back and we had a lot to tell them.
Next morning it was a early rise to pick up their daughter and we saw a beautiful sunrise
We went into town to wait for the ferry with on it her partner Keith and his stockcar.
He wins quite a number of races and they came over to race here for the weekend. We never went to a stockcar race so this is our change!
Geweldig! Natuurlijk won hij al zijn heats!
Saturday the weather was ok and we were at the track. Just great! Of course he won all his heats!
Mister Duct tape was mijn favoriet. Hij eindigde in de middelmoot.
In between the heats, it was time for the motorcross. From the mini's to the big machines. Mister Duct tape was my favorite. He made it halfway.
Sunday the weather was great and we went fishing. Caught quite a amount of Roch fish, ugly looking but good to eat. Nice firm meat?.
Opeens zagen wij spuiten van de walvissen. Overal waar wij keken waren zij.
All of a sudden we saw spouts of whales. where ever we were looking they were there. Some even very close. What a great farewell of Alaska. Even a last Bald Eagle flew over to say good bye.
Monday evening we had to leave Kodiak Island to make sure we could catch our flight back home the next evening. The last direct flight from Anchorage to Frankfurt this year.
With forty kilo's of salmon, deep frozen and super fresh and the rest of our luggage we flew back home. Got a last view of Mount Denali and the Alaska Range.
And what was waiting at home for our fisher man?
Elke dag was bijzonder. Hebben zoveel gezien, beleefd, geleerd, ontdekt. Met geen pen te beschrijven. Heel veel lieve, interessante, boeiende, rare, ook domme mensen ontmoet. Velen van hen in ons hart gesloten.
We had a incredible beautiful time in Alaska. Every day was special. We have seen so much, had great experiences, learned a lot and discovered even more. To much to write down. We met many lovely, interesting, exiting, weird but also some stupid people. Many of them got a special place in our harts.
We learned that we don't own the land but that it is our task to preserve it for future generations. Total and overall respect for nature. From time to time we felt very humble in this enormous world.
We want to thank everybody who followed us on this journey. This is the last story. I'm going to miss the writing but it's good to pick up the daily routine again.
Groetjes van ons 2

I got your Christmas card and the photos from Valdez campground.
Bella and Annabelle made it all the way to Deadhorse up the Dalton Highway.
It was a great trip.
I've got lots of photographs and memories. One of the best was meeting you two and the Airstream folks. Great Campfire and meal that evening.
Merry Christmas and God Bless.
