Anchor Point.

Anchor Point is om snel doorheen te rijden schreef ik. Voor onze beren tocht moesten wij ons daar op het strand melden. Je moet nooit te snel oordelen heb ik mijzelf weer eens moeten leren. Het weggetje naar het strand is prachtig, Loopt langs de Anchor rivier met mooie campgrounds. Als je bij het strand komt is het uitzicht adembenemend en wordt je  begroet door minstens vijftig Bald Eagles. De volgende stop wordt dus Anchor Point. Dirk kan er nog een middag vissen voordat er een stop komt tot midden Juli. De zalmstand gaat achteruit en wordt streng gemonitord. In de weken dat er niet gevist mag worden heeft de zalm kans op naar zijn broedgebied te gaan. De tweede dag verhuizen wij van de campground bij de rivier naar die naast het strand. In het bos rondom onze wonen de Bald Eagles, af en toe land er een op het dak van de RV met een enorm lawaai. Het gebied zit er vol met allerlei vogels. Kan mijn hart ophalen. Wij ontmoeten er Thomas, een Amerikaanse bioloog, gespecialiseerd in vogels maar die nu de IJsbeer bestudeert. Kregen een mooie lecture en een vogelboek. De avond daarvoor had ik net mijn album Alaska vogels bijgewerkt en hij was onder de indruk van de verzameling. De drie dagen dat wij hier waren hadden wij prachtig weer.   

I wrote, you have to drive fast going through Anchor Point. I had to learn again not to judge too fast. Going on our Bear viewing tour we had to meet the boat at the beach of Anchor Point. The way towards the beach is beautiful along the Anchor river. Arriving at the beach you are speechless. The view is stunning and about fifty Bald Eagles are there to greet you. So the next stop will be Anchor Point. Dirk can still fish one afternoon before there is a total stop until mid July. This because the salmon population is going back, they are well monitored and the stop will give the salmon a change to reach their spawning grounds. The second day we moved to the campground next to the beach. The trees around us are home of the Bald Eagles. From time to time one is landing on the roof of the RV what makes a lot of noice. There are all kinds of birds here so I can enjoy myself. We met Thomas who is a biologist specialist in birds but nowadays studying the Polar Bear. Got a lecture about the birds and a beautiful book about Birds in the USA. I just updated my bird album the night before and he was impressed with my collection. During the three days we spent here the weather was perfect and we spent a lot of time on the beach.
